Let’s continue where we left off…

Hopefully by today you’ve had the time to read my last two posts so you’re caught up with the story..

If not, you can find the first entry here and the second one here.

Back to the story…

I had just arrived on that dark cold evening at Diane’s house in the country.   Nervous and unsure what meditation could do for me or what doing it would even look like.  Pregnant, grieving my mom, and vulnerable.

Diane received me with such warmth..  She invited me into her cozy century home that had been in her family for generations.  I could feel the loving positive energy radiating from her, her home, and her beautiful family who were milling about in the background cleaning up dinner, doing homework – normal family stuff.  I relaxed almost immediately.

Whether or not I could understand it at the time, Diane’s energy was exactly what I needed, that’s why I was drawn to her.  That’s why I revealed my soul to her at the event I saw her at weeks before.  Since I had lost my mom in the Spring of that year I was always looking for signs that she was around me so I had opened myself up to meeting people like Diane to support me.

We are all connected in this way.  When there is a need in us and we are open to receive help or insight it is given.  I have come to know that as the truth.

My first meditation night with Diane was strange.  Not in the sense that it was uncomfortable but in the sense that I was practicing a new skill.  Opening my heart to a new way of doing things.  It would take time to understand how this practice was going to impact my grief, my parenting, my relationship, my energy, and my path.

I can’t wait to share with you the transformations I have seen when people begin to meditate regularly –  including my own experiences.

Since the night I met Diane my practice has evolved, ebbed, and flowed.

I have meditated in groups and by myself.  Sitting on a dock overlooking the lake, in my basement, in my living room alone and with a group, in the emergency room when I was scared out of my mind, when I was bored, when I was lonely, when I felt stuck, when I needed inspiration, on vacation, in yoga classes, in my backyard, while trying to get my kids to go to sleep, with my family, everywhere.

Meditation is a life-changing practice.

To tell you all the benefits it’s given me in the past 11 years would fill a book.  To put it briefly, it has installed in me a sense of wonder that has changed my perspective incredibly over the years.

I believe that good health is achieved when we are whole.

When our body, mind, and spirit are in a state of harmonious flow with one another.

After training in nutrition I know a lot about what the body physically needs to stay balanced and how to interpret symptoms of nutritional needs.  But specifically as a holistic nutritionist I can’t ignore that the body is one part of the three components I just listed above.  Body, Mind, and Spirit.

Meditation is where all three components receive clarity and insight to work in harmony.

By experiencing the benefits of a steady meditation practice over the past 11 years and witnessing change in others who have done the same I advise every single client, friend, and family member to start a practice.

I was given this gift by Diane all those years ago and I hope you can perhaps see something of yourself in this story.

Or when you read about it you feel a little excited tug that it’s time to either start meditating, reignite an old practice, or just plant a seed that maybe there’s something to this and start to open up to the idea.  A nudge in that direction.

I do have more to tell you but that’s where I will leave off for today 🙂

As I said to you earlier I want to take this time to gently share ideas that, although maybe you’ve heard them before, you haven’t heard them from me.   If hearing it from me is the connection you need at this time then I am here for you just like Diane was there for me at the right time.

Just as we are outwardly seeing signs of spring there are seeds within you that are slowly growing with new inspiration opening you to a new path that leads to feeling more positive energy in your day-to-day life.  Be open and patient to see where it leads you.

That’s the space I am holding for you as we connect here.   Thanks for taking the time to read and discover these ideas.
